The Institute of Economics will hold a meeting as part of its Seminar Series on Tuesday, March 22, 2022: Cecilia Rikap from the City University of London will present her book "The Digital Innovation Race - Conceptualizing the Emerging New World Order", jointly written with Bengt-Ake Lundvall.

The book provides a critical analysis of the current state of global economic governance.  The authors elaborate on the gap between the enormous resources invested in science and advanced technologies, which have created the potential to establish an egalitarian and democratic world that could put a stop to global warming as well as global pandemics, and the present prospects for the world economy.  The book argues that such gap, between what could be done to create a sustainable world and what we actually witness, reflects two fundamental characteristics of world governance: the transformation of knowledge into private property and techno-nationalism. With fundamental changes in these two dimensions there are grounds for optimism, the authors argue.

The presentation of the book will discussed by prof. Giovanni Dosi (Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna) and Dr. Dario Guarascio (Sapienza University of Rome). Dr. Maria Enrica Virgillito (Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna) will chair the event.

The seminar will be held in blended mode. In person participation is possible and available seats are allocated on a first come first served basis. For online participation please use the following link.
